Press Release Research

I found some examples of press releases to help me understand what to include in our own one, these are some of the ones I found:

Our press release will be information about our new album and types of promotion we've been doing for it. The press release will also include 'behind the scenes' photos of us at our album photo shoot and a behind the scenes photo of us at 'The Tess Show'.

Wide audiences

Many artists set out to try and appeal to a variety of different audiences to get a larger following. One example of this is Demi Lovato. Demi started out her career as a Disney Channel actress. As Disney Channel is a channel generally watched by around 7- 13 year olds, Demi Lovato has many young fans that enjoy the shows and films she is in (Eg. Camp Rock and Sonny With a Chance). She has also done a few Disney Channel songs (Eg. One and The Same, Let it Go and Gotta Find You) which also means young people will also enjoy her music.
However, as Demi has got older she has widened her target audience. Although she has mainly left her acting behind, she has released many pop songs (Eg. Skyscraper, Heart Attack and Neon Lights) which appeal to an older audience of around the age of 12 and above. This means that although she has kept her younger audience who watch re-runs of her TV episodes and continue to purchase her films and older songs, Demi has been able to hit a much larger audience who now buy her newly released albums and singles.
To continue to appeal to her audience, Demi is in a variety of magazines. For example in 2013, Demi was on the cover of both Cosmopolitan (aimed at older teens and above) and Bliss (Aimed at ages from around 8-13) (-Shown below). Both these magazines show a very different view of her. Bliss shows her looking younger with, as stated on the magazine cover, a 'flower power' outfit on. Whereas on her issue of Cosmopolitan, she is dressed more provocatively with her bra showing. These different perceptions of her are used to appeal to her different audiences.

We intend to use this idea and we will make it clear in our magazine interview that we have both younger and older fans and that we are able to be good role models to the younger ones as well as being appealing to our older ones as well. However my magazine will be one with a target audience of ages 14-18 (Similar to magazines such as Teen Vogue, Nylon and Seventeen) meaning that it will be more sophisticated and show us to be professional music artists as well as the fun side to our personalities and music.
